It's been a lovely day...

03 Jun 2006

What a lovely day it is today. But here I am, lounging in the front room after the football, when I should be out either:

a) helping my girlfriend with the weeding in the garden
b) making the most of the good weather
c) sipping a pint in the nearby pub
or
d) training for the run next Sunday

I spent two days this week in Brighton at a company conference. The evening's entertainment consisted of a 70;s disco, complete with fancy dress. There were some cracking costumes and some cool dancing, but I embarrassed myself with half an Ozzy Osbourne costume, that was frankly rubbish. I had to change half way through the evening. Quite how I managed get up on time after landing myself on the beach outside the hotel at 5am, I don't know. I even managed to get up 3 hours later without an alarm. The serious meetings in the morning didn't help matters; my eye makeup and nail varnish wouldn't come off either, so I looked like a drug-addled goth throughout.

I was in a really irritable mood today. I was in M&S with my girlfriend and moaning about everything, I'm turning into a really grumpy old git. Better make that up to her since she's just overhauled the garden with a trowel. Speaking of which, we need to go to Homebase now to pick up a rake. Great stuff.

Still, I got a promotion this week, so I guess I'm still really happy about that. Am going out tonight to celebrate at a posh place in town. Shame though, as the local pub has karaoke on at the same time. The local pub also has a shedload of kids who, right now are making the most of the bouncy castle in the beer garden, and screaming utter nonsense at the top of their shrill voices. Grumpy old man indeed.
