"and you could have it all, my empire of dirt..."

02 Nov 2006

Me today...My jaw has long since disappeared into a jowl, so I'm wearing a beard at the moment. It's covering half my face, which is obviously a good thing, but it makes me look older, which is not what I need at the moment. One of the wonderful things about being in this industry is the ability to dress like a complete tramp and still fit in. Hurrah. Look at me now Ma! Hate the idea of being 30 next year.(The quote from the subject line is from one of Johnny Cash's last hits, a song called Hurt. Think it was originally written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame. I'm loving that, although it's one of those weepy numbers that gets me every time).

It's the day of my appraisal, which went well, thank god, and I'm still sitting at my PC at work, it's dark outside and I don't know whether I'm going to be bothered to go home and sit on my own (Rach's in college now), or sit here and pretend to work. Truth is I'm burned out today and could probably do worse than spend a few days sitting in my pants and eating myself into a sugary stupor. And...well, maybe you shouldn't hear the rest! However, back to the present, and a trip down the A4 in the dark, being cut up by a bunch of inconsiderate tossers vying for space sounds like the only real course of action for me now.

I've finished reading The Subtle Knife now, the second in the 'His Dark Materials trilogy', so I might go and see if I can pick up the third one on the way home. A £3.93 deal down the local Tescos might be the way forward. I'm quite enjoying the series. Deals with some heavy issues, man.

Next up I'm going to hunt down the new Stephen King novel. Sadly it's only in hardback, so I'll have to spend shedloads on that or wait as long as Christmas. Tough one. At least I have my priorities right in life.

Last night we watch the "Perfect Day" drama on ITV, for the second time. I didn't realise the first time around that it's a trilogy, so we've got the third one to look forward to next Wednesday. Really enjoyed it.Someone's just put in a request for me to play "I can see for miles" by The Who, so on that note, I'm off. Let's face it, I'm not saying much anyway...
