Cole's Corner
Went for a walk down the shops yesterday and had a first listen to Richard Hawley's Coles Corner album from last year. Liked it a lot from the start. I played it to Rachael when I got back, and even she liked it, which is saying something. It's like 50s crooning with modern production. Some really pleasant songs. Very slow pace, but great to go with that late night, last glass of wine time.Apparently - and I was really surprised by this - he was the guitarist in both the Longpigs and Pulp. Not that you could guess, you'd imagine him to be about 80 with a voice like that. Pick if you get the chance, there wasn't a crap tune on the album. Think there's another one called Late Night Final or something, and the album's out in September, apparently.
